Best Time to Book Flights to India from Canada

By Fond Travels · Updated August 9, 2026

Flights to India are one of the most in-demand — and most price-volatile — routes from Canada. Get the timing right and you can save hundreds of dollars. Here's what we've learned as an IATA-accredited Calgary agency booking Canada→India travel year-round, all in CAD.

When to book: the booking window

For most India routes from Canada, the best fares appear 2–4 months before departure. For the busiest periods — Christmas/New Year, and the October–March wedding and festival season — book even earlier, ideally 4–6 months out. Last-minute India fares are rarely cheap.

When to fly: cheapest travel seasons

  • Cheapest: the monsoon/shoulder months (roughly April–June and September) usually have the lowest fares.
  • Most expensive: mid-December to early January, and the peak wedding months.
  • Sweet spot: flying mid-week (Tue/Wed) is often cheaper than weekends year-round.

City & airline tips

Toronto and Vancouver typically offer the widest choice and most competitive fares to India. Carriers like Air India, Air Canada (via partners), Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad each price differently by season — the "cheapest airline" for Delhi in November may not be the cheapest for Amritsar in March. Comparing across airlines and nearby airports is where an agent saves you the most.
